I left Cuba when I was just one year old. My understanding of what it means to be Cuban, and what Cuba is, was, and continues to be, has been shaped in exile.
Like many of us who grew up in Little Havana and across the diaspora, my Cuban identity was inherited through stories, traditions, music, food, history, and memory. Yet there was always a deeper question: What truly defines us?
In 2009, I created a Facebook group called All Things Cuban as a way to document and share my research into that very question. What began as posts for friends and family quickly grew into something more — a living archive of Cuban history, culture, and identity.
Over the years, All Things Cuban® has evolved into more than a Facebook group. It has become a recognized cultural and educational platform — a digital extension of Cuba itself. A place where history is preserved, culture is celebrated, and our Cubanidad lives.
Today, All Things Cuban® serves as a space where Cubans and Cuban-Americans — and all who appreciate Cuban culture — can learn, connect, and engage with our shared heritage. Through educational content, cultural promotion, community events, and historical storytelling, we continue the mission that began in 2009: to understand who we are and to preserve that identity for future generations.
I invite you to explore the platform, read, learn, attend our events, support Cuban artists and creators, and most importantly — participate.
Because Cuba is not just a place on a map.
Cuba lives in us.
